Tech Research

Yesterday Adobe officially announced their new stylus and "ruler" to be used in conjunction with their iPad apps. Essentially giving you the versatility and accuracy of a Wacom Intuos on your iPad and the "ruler" displays shapes (Lines, circles, angles, more downloadable packs to be released) on the screen to aid you in drawing:

Tokina have taken the recent popularity of superhydrophillic...
coating and implemented it into a lens filter:

These guys took the midi output from a piano and used it to control some old school Doom:

A story I saw a while back about Fujitsu working on a new palm scanner for ATMs. The scanner looks at the pattern of the veins in your hand which is better than the current alternatives by a stretch:

These last 3 are somewhat related
The first to be announced was the Oculus Rift (which began as a kickstarter). It's the worlds most advanced and commercially available virtual reality headset. It monitors the rotations of your head and adjusts the view accordingly, displays in 3D and the screens are warped in a way that when your eyes see them it looks natural as opposed to the standard flat screens in other VR headsets that feel like you're at the cinema

Next is a new development going on the recent popularity of widely available 3D printers, the next logical step being cheap and easy 3D scanning. Apart from the exciting uses shown in the demo video there is a small clip of one mounted on top of an Occulous Rift allowing the wearers hands to interact with the 3D VR world

Last but not least is the Virtuix Omni. Essentially an omni-direction treadmill that outputs your movements designed specifically to work with VR goggles.

With these technologies combined you have by far the most immersive Virtual Reality available. Pretty cool!
